Can I Use Procreate If I Can’t Draw

Can I Use Procreate If I Cannot draw

Drawing is one of those things about which I am well aware that I am completely ignorant. Education isn’t a replacement for skill, but it’s a start!

You can draw on Procreate if you are not a good artist or are still in the initial stages of your art journey.

However, there are many ways to learn to draw. procreate is an App that has quite a simple learning curve however, you need to learn about another aspect of drawing, sketching, and art as well.

I came across a few suggestions on the internet recently something to the effect of “with handwriting, like sketching, you should move your entire arm,” which I found to be rather enlightening for

When I write or draw, I use just the fingers that grip the pen, thus I end up with a twisted circle or straight line when I attempt to draw a circle or a straight line since my fingers don’t reach that far.

“Digital design is like painting, except the paint never Dries”

Where to start with your Art Journey?

Before you even start drawing on Procreate you may need to have some fundamental /basic art learning.

If you’ve always had an interest in sketching, painting, and other forms of visual expression, you may start taking art classes in watercolor and oil painting at local community centers.

Once you have a basic idea about drawing, sketching, and colors you can start meddling with Procreate. Start doodling with some of your fav objects or a thing.

Art is a Skill that can be Learned

The first thing to keep in mind is that if you set your mind to it, you can do anything. This “talent” thing is a hoax.

The ability to draw may be learned and improved by everyone.

The best place to begin is with the essentials, such as learning about shape, form, perspective, lines, and so on.

It’s all possible with this language, which is sketching. I’d suggest checking out a few art Channels on YouTube for some excellent tutorials on sketching in general, which can be applied to mechanical and landscape painting as well.

It’s simply a matter of finding the correct lessons and other resources, and procreate is a terrific tool for getting started.

However, if you’d want to discuss anything further, please do so through our Contact us page: as a professional artist, I’d be delighted to help you.

Is Art a talent or skill

Practice Practice Practice!

Is it more important to you to depict people or places? If you want to start sketching people, Human anatomy is a good place to start for most individuals.

Even if you don’t want to depict humans in a hyper-realistic manner, it’s essential to understand how people move and seem. Just grab a sketchbook and start drawing what you observe.

To be an artist, you must practise, practise, practise. Just so you know, innate talent is a myth.

People have claimed I had inherent skill, but the truth is, they say that because I worked hard and trained, they believe that. Do what you need to do.

Find a Good art teacher

I recommend to take up some art classes that uses iPad to teach.  If you’re just starting out, I recommend that you learn about perspective and how to draw things using forms.

Sketching anatomy and gesture might be challenging at first, but if you get the hang of them, they will be your closest friends when it comes to drawing people.

I also suggest that you learn about value before diving into colour theory.

I’d also recommend watching lessons for procreate, but don’t limit yourself to them;

The finest art tutorials won’t utilise procreate, and in the worst-case scenario, you’ll have to acquire art-studio pro and use it with procreate in order to follow Photoshop techniques precisely.

Learn Sketching Perspective and form

In order to learn perspective and form, I highly suggest copying from real-world examples.

Let your iPad do the work for you. If you’re feeling confident, you may add your own personal touches to the design. The internet is a good place to look for instructions on landscapes and drawing.

The following are some basic guidelines:

  • To get started, create a Pinterest board containing photos, instructions, and other helpful resources. Using Pinterest for art references is a blessing.
  • Stop looking at them as objects and start looking at them as forms instead. – There is nothing special about a structure; it is just a collection of rectangles and squares.
  • To get perspective correct, utilise rulers and guidelines. For novices, Procreate’s guidance tools are invaluable.
  • -As much as you can, practise. Everything can be learnt, even if you have a natural gift for it. Even though I’ve been drawing cartoon characters for three years, I’m still becoming better every day.

Join Skillshare

Skillshare has been a great resource for many of my friends.

Many lessons and challenges were available to help them hone their artistic talents.

Sharing your work and getting comments from others is also facilitated by this platform.

If you’re a student, you may be able to obtain some excellent free brushes from some of the instructors.

Silkshare also offers a free month trial and then it’s $99 a year, so it wouldn’t harm to use it for a month before cancelling if you’re not interested.

  • One of the things I had to continuously remind myself of was not to compare myself to anybody else’s level.
  • Don’t let yourself feel discouraged if you can’t generate precisely what someone else creates. Relax and enjoy the ride!
  • PRACTICE, as other people have advised. Constantly. Even if you don’t want to, you must do it.
  • When things become tough, don’t give up. That’s when I’m most capable of progressing.
  • Congratulations! You’ll be a natural in no time! A style and a voice will soon emerge!

Use References

Real artists rely on References and inspiration. And this has been the case for as long as we can remember.

Practice a lot, Fortunately, layers in Procreate are cheaper than paper.

This also applies to landscape painting. There are paintings by Leonardo that reveal the location of the portrait’s backdrop.

Landscape artists were also instrumental in reviving military intelligence in the past.

There’s a theory that sketchbooks are a need because of this.

Preparatory sketches for some of the world’s most renowned landscape paintings may be seen here.

These days, there are internet software that may assist you to locate iconic landscapes in the real world.

Few Nifty tips

Practice Every day,

Draw lines and forms every day on your Procreate (e.g: Ovals, circles, Triangles, squares, etc.).Also, Practice Human Organs like the nose and eyes if you are keen on sketching humans or cartoon Characters.

Check on your Interest:

For Instance:  If you’re interested in environmental concept art, therefore I recommend searching for “concept art thumbnails,” which is a great technique for both beginners and seasoned artists.

If you are keen on cartoon/famous Characters try drawing/sketching them starting with some easy characters like Poke man or Mickey mouse.

(Well, A lot more information is available online, however, I used this method extensively while pursuing concept art and can attest to its effectiveness.)
