Can you trace images on the Wacom tablet?
When it comes to tracing images on a Wacom tablet, One thing to keep an eye out for is the number of pressure sensitivity levels, which indicates how closely the drawing on the screen will resemble the actual pen marks you make.
The greater the number of levels, the better.
You will probably find the lower end of 2,048 to be perfectly fine if you are a beginner or casual drawer; however, if you are a pro or semi-pro, you may want to hold out for more.
You can, in fact, trace an image with a Wacom; the following are the steps you should take:
Step 1
First, locate a USB port on your personal computer and connect your Wacom tablet to it. Verify that your computer is active and turned on.
Open either Adobe Photoshop or the software of your choice in Step 2 of the process. Wacom tablets are compatible with every programme on the market.
Step 2.
Flip the Wacom tablet over so that it’s facing you. You should be able to make out four rectangles located relatively close to each corner.
When you apply pressure to these tiny rectangles, they slide back into place.
To open the cover of the tablet, slide each one back into its respective slot. Flip the tablet over and remove the transparent cover by lifting it off.
Step 3
On the graphic tablet, position the image that you want to trace. Make the necessary adjustments to the image so that the portion of the picture that you wish to trace is centred on the graphic tablet.
Step 4
Position the transparent cover so that it completely encloses both the picture and the graphic tablet.
Keep the cover in place and turn the tablet over, or lift it above your head to look inside of it while keeping the cover in place.
To fasten the cover, simply slide the rectangles back into their original positions.
Step 5
Apply the stylus that came with the graphic tablet to the photograph and trace over it. Within the photo-editing programme, you will see the result almost immediately.
Pro Note:
Nowadays you also get On display Wacom Tablets both tethered version which needs to be connected to a computer and untethered version ( expensive) Wacom tablets. They have a screen that also displays the art you are working on. The method remains the same.
