Do Professionals use Canva – [Feedback from the Graphic Designers]

I am a professional designer, and clients frequently enquire as to whether or not I use Canva. No, I do not make use of Canva, to put it more succinctly. However, I use it for my marketing activities like creating quick Marketing materials for Reels, Shorts, or Fb Stories…Canva is the best for creating Marketing materials.

As a professional designer with many years of experience, I find that using more advanced software that provides me with greater control over the design process is the best option for me.

Having said that, I am aware that not everyone has the same amount of experience or access to software, which is why I decided to write this article to explain why I don’t use Canva and why you shouldn’t either if you take the design work you do seriously.

What makes Canva unsuitable for use in professional graphic design?

People who are watching their finances may want to consider Canva as an affordable option; however, a professional graphic designer can make a significant improvement in the overall quality of projects.

Softwares such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign, Coral Draw, and Photoshop, amongst others, are incredibly user-friendly and convenient for a professional designer to work with.

It is inevitable that he or she will always have the desire to make something from scratch.

As designers, they may find it necessary to alter a great deal of the content within the Canva design. Altering components, on the other hand, is analogous to stealing designs and passing them off as your own work.

They do not utilize any websites like that for the creation of graphics. Second, you do not have complete control over the designs you create using websites like Canva and others like it.

Canva is only useful for drawing design inspiration in the event that the designer likes some of the designs that other users have created.

However, there are other websites such as Behance, Dribbble, Pinterest, and others that are much more useful for finding inspiration.

Reasons Most Designers do not use Canva for design work- Including me

Canva is an excellent tool for people who are just beginning their careers in design or who have an immediate need to create a design with only a few options for personalization or for people who are into marketing.

Canva is not, however, the best option for anyone who wants to produce designs that are professional in both quality and presentation.

The following is a list of some of the reasons why:

1. Low-Quality Output

Canva’s output quality is inferior to that of professional software, which is yet another disadvantage of using the platform.

When you export a design from Canva, it frequently comes out looking blurry or of low resolution. This is due to the fact that Canva does not possess the same print capabilities as professional software does.

2. Inflexible pricing

Last but not least, one of the most significant issues with Canva is that its pricing model is rigid. You will need to upgrade to a premium membership in order to take advantage of any of the more advanced features or to export your designs in a high-quality format. This can quickly become costly, particularly if you are working on a number of different projects at the same time.

3. Fewer design choices are available

When compared to professional design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, the number of design options available through Canva is extremely limited. When you use Canva, you are restricted to making use of templates that have already been created, and you do not have nearly as much control over the design process as you would if you were working with professional software.

4. An inability to be precise

Precision is absolutely necessary whenever you are working on a project that requires professional design. When using Canva, it is exceptionally challenging to reach the level of precision that is essential for producing high-quality work.

When designing a logo, for instance, it is essential to have precise control over the amount of space between the individual letters and other components of the design. You won’t be able to accomplish that using Canva.

Pro Note:

TIP: If you run a small business or are an individual looking to create simple designs for your blog or website, Canva is an excellent tool that you should consider using. Canva is not, however, typically used for the design work that is done by professional designers.

Canva does not provide the same level of control or versatility as professional design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, which is why this is the case. In addition, the quality of the designs that are produced through the use of Canva may be inferior to the quality of designs produced through the use of professional design software.
